Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Next thing to do

I was involved in an accident (very minor) about 2 weeks back. None of us admitted to being at fault.

After the accident, I talked to the other driver and passenger if they were hurt or not. Since they said they were fine, police did not show up until about 1 hour later.

During this period, the passenger's relative had arrived and when cop asked the passenger about the condition, the passenger complained of some pain.

I have received a notification letter from the other driver/passenger's attorney asking me to forward the police report to my insurance agent. I know it is difficult to speculate what they have in mind at this point, what in your opinion would be a prudent thing for me to do, right now ?.

I have sent the letter and the report to my insurance agent. How do you determine who was at fault ?

Sometimes, soft tissue injuries take a little time to surface. After an auto accident, it is not uncommon to have no pain until the next day.

Determining who was at fault is what happens at a trial. Even that is not fool proof.

If you have auto insurance, they should provide someone to defend you if the other parties sue. The other parties might not even sue. At this point, you should communicate with your insurance agent who is familiar with the particulars of the matter.
