How long after a house is sold, having passed all inspections, are the previous owners responsible for any underground oil leaks?

That would most likely depend on the pertinent statute of limitation governing any potential cause of action, what your contract says, and what kind of warranties, if any, were given. You should consult with an attorney if you feel you may be subject to pending litigation.
