Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Hello,

I purchased a condo with an ex-boyfriend over three years ago. When we first moved in he brought his baseball card collection and a few other pieces of sports memorabilia and put them in our storage unit. In May of 2009 (almost three years after breaking up and living apart) he signed his rights and interest in the property over to me and I am now the sole owner. His baseball card collection is still sitting in the storage unit. A few times over the past three years I have asked him to come and clean out his things from storage, but once the condo was signed over to me I never heard from him again. Now, six more months have gone by and I would like to sell this collection. Since the condo is now mine technically everything is now mine. Are there any legal ramafications to doing this?

Are you really looking for a fight? Do you want to deal with it if he sues you? Win or lose, would that be worth it? I would suggest that you pack it all up and drop it on the front step of where he lives, sending him a letter and/or email a day or two before you do so.

Keep in mind that this information is given based on the scanty facts that you have provided. And no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. In order to be able to rely upon any advice, you need to meet with and retain an attorney, who will be able to give you advice after a full and comprehensive interview. Before you do anything, you should contact an attorney for a full consultation. Good Luck! Rob Gleaner
