Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

I live in New Jersey and my father passed away a few months ago and he lived in Florida. My stepmother will not contact me about his will or what is happening w his possessions. I know he had a will at some point but do not have a copy of it and don't know how to find out what it says or if she changed it....what is my next step?

You have tried nice. You have tried asking politely.

Now you have to try 'attorney'.

Or start by contacting the Surrogate's Office in the County where he resided at his demise. Usually you can get a copy of the probated Will for a small fee. Try the Internet for the contact information, such as Palm Beach County Surrogate or whatever county in which he lived. Don't expect too much as most people, when they remarry, name the new spouse ahead of their children. Good luck!
