Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

prior condo management didn't pay municipal charges

Am I responsible for municipal sewer charges billed for my condo prior to my buying it? New condo management claims that previous management never paid sewer charges, but collected maintenance. This is in Hudson county, NJ. THanks

Re: prior condo management didn't pay municipal charges

You should not be paying charges incurred before you bought. It may be a fight to make the proper person pay, and you may be liable to pay the town and have to pursue your money back from either the seller or the condo association. I would need to see the documents to advise.
