Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

my property was sold for back taxes but I was never notified about the sale, I still received tax bills and when I went to pay they said it was sold I still pay water and sewer I feel I should have been told it was sold and who to so I could try to make arrangements to pay back the taxes it was only around $7,000 now because of the interest the people who bought it, now the amount is about $18.000 I feel they had a right to tell me as some of the houses that where for sale did not sell. How can a town do this to people and not let them know so they can try and come up with the money it only been a year. please let me know what my options are and if this is legal. thank-you
