Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

verbal contract

We put our condo for sale.

My husband told a man who ended up buying the condo that he was going to paint the 2nd bedroom, wallpaper the bathroom and put a new wood floor. The painter did not do wallpaper the man did see the other work and went into contract with us, but never mentioned anything about wallpaper. We move out after closing date. He didn't come to see the condo before closing date. Now he wants to keep escrow money 650.00 escrow money. The condo was in both our names. He only spoke to my husband and my husband said he never made a promise, but said we were planning to due this work. Is this anyway a verbal agreement.

Re: verbal contract

your question sounds a lot like another question posted just a little while ago.

no, the buyer should not be able to hold any of your money. why does he HAVE any of your money?

You are asking these questions because your real estate attorney has left you to figure this out yourself, right? dont use that lawyer again for anything. no one should abandon the client, even for a small matter.

You should try getting an attorney to look this over for you and try to force the escrow to be paid to you WITHOUT the need to file suit.
