Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

I'm currently disabled, and have been that way since I was a teen, but I'm 20 yrs old and have never worked, before I was 18 I was receiving SSI from my father who is deceased; I was wondering if I apply for SSI do i apply under myself or is it better to try under my father's social security number? Also is it better to have a lawyer handle the SSI application process?

You may qualify under several SS programs. The imporatnt thing is to call the Social Security Administration ASAP. Tell them your situation and open a claim. You do not need a lawyer to apply but may in the future.
