Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

Social Security Disability Request
On 3/7/00 I shot myself in the head due to depression. As a result, I am out of work for an undetermined amount of time. I have filed for disability benefits thru Social Security, as I have no income coming in at this time from my job or other. I suffer from depression, epilepsy and continuous severe pain as a result of my action. Am I eligible to collect SS Insurance until I am once again a normal functioning human being. Thru medication and therapy, I hope to be able to join the working force within a year of two.

You may receive SSD benefits for a condition that has lasted for at least a year or is expected to last for at least a year. Consult a SSD attorney.
