Mailing of W-2 forms

Must the w-2 forms be mailed or may they be passed out to the employees with the paycheck?

Re: Mailing of W-2 forms

W-2's may be personally delivered or mailed. Frankly, since many employees rush to H&R Block to get their refund, giving it to them assures they get it faster.

I hope this helps!

While they are usually mailed, they can be handed out. If handed out, I suggest you have the employees sign that they received them. Copies also must be filed with Social Security, using Form W-3.
