39:4-97 Careless Driving citation

i was driving on NJTP and the officer pulled me over. i was going 95mph and the officer issued me a 39:4-97 Careless Driving citation. i am trying ot assertain if i should just pay the fine or hire an attorney to go to court for me.

He gave you a big break. You would get more points and a possible suspension for that speed.

Nevertheless, you can go to Court and ask the Prosecutor for a downgrade to Unsafe Driving which carries no points but a larger fine. If that request is denied, plead and go home knowing you got a good deal anyway.
