Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

39:3-10- Expired DL

I got a ticket for an expired drivers license. I did not do anything wrong. But he pulled behind me in a parking lot and asked me to see my license. I provided it to him and he told me it was expired. I realized that I had forgotten to renew my license, and was guilty of that. But can a officer give you a citation and pull you over just because the computer says the ''registered owner'' is expired? Also he put my old address on the ticket. I changed my address, and the DMV issued sticker was on the back of my license, what are my chances of fighting this in court?

Yes, they can look you up and pull you over for that. You should be able to work out a good deal on your own. Just get your DL fixed before court. If the prosecutor doesn't give you a good deal, you can punt and come back with an attorney. Or you could just get one now. Your choice.
