Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Careless Driving Ticket

need some help...i was at a red light, w/ two cars in front of me. light turns green and we all make a slight right. i'm about 2 cars behind a mini van in front of me. there's another mini van coming out of a wawa parking lot that is about 50 ft ahead on the left. he pulls out and almost hits me, i have to swerve around him, he blows his horn, then speeds to ride my bumper till the next light which is about 1/4mi away. we get to the next light and he rolls down his window and uses a few choice words towards me, then tells me he's a cop and i will get a ticket in the mail. light turns green and he tells me to go so he can copy my liscence plate. we sit there for a minute, then i finally get frustrated and go. well 4 days later i get a ticket for careless driving in the mail and i have a court appearance. any help would be appreciated. thanks,

nick

Re: Careless Driving Ticket

I guess there is nothing like a policeman who just can't stop working even when he is not on duty.

Nevertheless, like any citizen can do as well, he has signed a ticket against you. It is not a major charge, but does involve some points.

Since it will probably come down to your word against his in this case, there is a decent chance the judge will take the policeman's version and find you guilty if tried. While I'd first discuss the facts with you to see if we can "beat" the charge, your best option may be to arrange a plea to a lesser charge or a "no-point" ticket.

I practice in Courts from Trenton area and South and would be happy to give you a free consultation/talk with you about your case if it is in an appropriate Court. I can then advise of the likely outcome and my fees.

Feel free to check my website at njlawpages.com for further information about myself and my practice areas.

Thanks,
