Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Opposite Direction Parking: I parked my car on the correct side of the quiet residential street (where parking is allowed) but I came from the opposite direction and parked my car in the opposite direction . Somebody called the police and I got a ticket to appear in court, no fee yet, and the policeman (I talked to him when he was finishing writing a ticket) did not know the article of violation and the possible fee. (It happened in Cliffside Park, NJ.) I've never heard that this kind of parking is forbidden in the USA. I didn't find such regulations in the NJ driver's manual. In other countries this is a common way to park, I've been driving for 15 years without violations, having experience in several countries. Thank you in advance for your answer!

As written, your "question" has no question in it. If you are asking can you get a ticket where a car is parallel parked opposite the direction of the flow of traffic, the answer is yes. Think about it. It it less safe when parking or pulling out of a spot when facing "into" the flow of oncoming traffic? Of course it is.
