Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

seat belt violation

i received a seat belt violation from a county police officer in non-compliance with the federal law requiring persons on federally funded highways to wear approved reflective vests. Truly, it was dangerous for him to be there on a 3 lane highway.

Based on your description, these have got to be Bergen County police. Some of these guys are real cowboys. You are probably right about the vest, but nobody is going to bother them about that. Give me a call if you want to discuss it further, at 877\688\3879.

Re: seat belt violation

Is there a question there? I'm touched by your concern for the police officer's safety, but this is a statutory offense. COME ON! You were, or were not wearing a seatbelt - period. If you think the police officer was doing something 'dangerous', well you won't get anywhere with an dumb arguement like that, but your ONLY recourse is to complain to his superiors, and write to the legislators that you do not like the statute making not wearing a seatbelt an offense, but that is useless too, it will not change. How about this, wear your seatbelt, or don't wear it and just pay the occassional tickets issed when you get them w/o complaining about it, it IS your choice.
