Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Can I get a copy of will & list of distributions

I have five siblings. Our mother died in 1989, and our father pre-deceased her.

My mother lived with my oldest brother and sister. Before her death (either 1987 or 1988), my older sister had my mother sign an updated will, to show only her and my older brother as beneficiaries, with my brother as executor. My sister also had the deed to my mother's residence changed, to show my older sister and brother as owners.

1) I would now like to see this will. How do I get this?

2) I would also like to see a list of all distributions from the Estate. Can I get this?

Thanks

First question: What have you been doing for the past 20 years!!! It's a little late to be taking an interest in your mother's estate at this point...The time to do that was right after she died [and based on what you say, there were certainly "issues" that would raise suspicion as to an undue influence claim]...the problem is, the time to contest the Will has long passed.

You can get a copy of the Will at the Surrogate's office. I doubt you will be able to get much info. on estate distributions unless the executor filed an accounting with the court [which would be unlikely].
