Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Death related home ownership?

My wife passed away two weeks ago. Both our names are

on the deed.1.Do I now become sole owner of this home?

2.If yes, does it make a difference if she

decided to leave (in her will)her half of the house to a relative or her estate?

3 Can I be forced out in any way?

Thank you

Re: Death related home ownership?

If the property was held as "tenancy by the entireties" you will automatically be the owner. If it is simply a tenancy in common, without survivorship rights, you would only own your portion.

The only way to accurately answer your question is to see a copy of the deed.
