Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My Grandmother died with a total balance of $454 to her name. The bank where her account was held wants a copy of the death and short certificate. We were told the will needs to be probated in order to get a short certificate. Is there a value limit on probating a will? The money left to family members far exceeds the value of her Estate.

Most of your questions can be resolved by contacting the Surrogate's Court in the county where your grandmother resided. The clerks will be able to guide you through the process, especially if it is a small estate.

Good luck.
