Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

How long should it take to receive money from a will?

I am named in my grandmothers will. It has been over 3 months since the sale of her house and I have not heard anything form the executor or the attorney. The attorney is also the co-executor along with my cousin. The only thing that was mentioned in the beginning was that it would take 1 to 9 months to complete but I don't see why it should take so long. The money is already there although I don't know where the money is.

It is not uncommon for distributions from an estate to take a long time. Without knowing more about the estate, I cannot point to a reason for the delay. However, generally, potential heirs not in the Will must be notified of the Will's probate, creditors must be notified, and taxes must be filed. All of this can lead to delay.
