how current must a surrogate certificate be to transfer corporate stock

Re: surrogate certificate
it depends entirely on the Transfer Agent for the corporation in question. Some Transfer Agents require a "fresh" certificate , not more than 30 days old; while others accept certificates up to 6 months old--rarely older.
