There is no exact time established for this. The carrier must be thorough and reasonable, given the circumstances of the claim. The problem is that they often take too long. That leaves an injured worker without medical care or missing time from work without payment and concerned about supporting himself and his family. Usually the insurance carrier will provide a quicker response if the worker has an attorney. There is also the option of filing a Motion with Court, in essence asking the judge to order the carrier to provide benefits. This Motion requires a certification of the injured worker, as well as a medical report or note, saying that medical care/lost time from work is necessary and related to a job injury.
