Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Mexico

hello im needing to know what i should do about loaning a car to my ex husbands sister and brother n law for a day, but they never returned with it.they were only suppose to borrow it just for the day. i just found out that they went to hobbs new mexico in it that is were they live. i live in midland texas. they have no intensions of bringing my car back to me. i dont know what im suppose to do from here. i need my car back asap.

Talk to your local police department. If the automobile is registered in your name alone, the crime is called "theft by bailee." Taking the property of another and keeping it after the loan period has expired is a serious crime. Of course you may have proof problems if there is nothing in writing, but make a police report and see what they say.
