Re: adoption final decree

This is the part about why lawyers make the big

bucks. There is not a form that does what you

want. However, the quick and easy way to accomplish

what you want is to go to the children's code (it's

something like Chapter 32A or around there) of the

NM Statutes and look up adoption of children. In

that part of the statutes you will see a statute that

has the heading with the words "Final Decree" in it

and it has the overall outline of what is needed

to complete a Final Decree of Adoption for a child.

If you follow that statute (generally) and use the

adult adoption statute as a comparison to include

information that may not be in the children's adoption

section then you should end up with a document that

a judge might sign. The worst case is the judge will

tell you that he or she won't sign it because of

one thing or another. After that, you can fix the

part the judge doesn't like and you'll be set to go.

It's not fast or pretty but it will get you to where

you want to go.
