Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Mexico

Car Legal Advice.

Traded my car for another car, but was lied to about the condition of the other car. It was in very poor state that was not immediately apparent, and never brought up. After having an almost fatal failure of a major component of the car 2 days after the trade, I asked nicely to trade back and was met with extreme denial. All I want is to have my car back and he will get his in better condition then received I may add. Do I have the right?

Re: Car Legal Advice.

The answer depends on whether you bought the car from a private individual or a dealer.

You want to consult the Motor Vehicle Quality Assurance Act, better known as the "Lemon Law," New Mexico Statutes Section 57-16A-1 and the sections following it. This act will give you a lot of information about what your rights are.
