Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Mexico

I made a horrible mistake and took money ($500) on my last day at work. As soon as I did it I regretted it but didn't know what to do. I want to confess, but want to do so in the best way..........so I don't have to go to jail.

I don't know any way for you to confess (and return the money, I guess you mean to say) without exposing yourself to potential criminal liability. The person you confess to (presumably your old boss) could decide not to charge you, but would be under no obligation. If you know the money has been missed and you know there's an investigation under way that's likely to point to you it could change your calculus more towards confessing.

Tough spot you put yourself in. Good luck
