Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Mexico

I live in a small apartment complex. Apparently the owner of the property has failed to make their payments and they are being foreclosed upon at some point. it shows on my credit report that i have a judgement against me for almost a quarter of a million dollars. it has her name listed then mine with others as a defendant (john doe) , tenant. Everyone i've talked to said that is not right and that its a mistake. I've submitted a dispute with the credit reporting agency to get it taken off my credit report. How should i go about getting it taken care of otherwise?

Once a Judgment is entered, it is a complicated process to have it removed. Basically, if there is no evidence in the official court file that you were served with a copy of the Complaint which ultimately resulted in the Judgment, a Motion to the Court would probably do the trick. If there is such evidence, then the situation becomes far more involved. Check with a civil lawyer in your area for more precise information. Initial consultations are usually done at no cost - ask first. If you don't know any lawyers ask your friends and family. If they don't know any, go to http://www.nmbar.org/ and find one from the list there.
