Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Mexico

''Final Payment'' language on medical payment check

I received a check from my insurance company for medical expenses related to an auto accident. The check says, ''final payment'' on it. But, I am still receiving medical treatment, and have not reached the limit on my policy. When I inquired about this, I was told that it was a mistake, to disregard it, that my insurance company is obligated to pay to the limits of my policy regardless of what that check says. Should I endorse it or insist on another check that does not say ''final payment''?

Re: ''Final Payment'' language on medical payment check

Scratch out 'final payment', initial that line, and cash the check.
