Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Business reputation

Hello,

I'm Kovacs Andras from Hungary. I'd like to ask your help.I'm running some web sites and one of them was put up to a cheaters list of a webmaster forum by one of my competitors. The reason was I used a piece of Html code that was designed by Google but he didn't like it. To prove it's not illegal I sent them official articles by Google. Unfortunatelly this system doesn't allow to write URLs.

This is endangers my business reputation. I've already lost some of my trade partnes because of this. I'd like to be removed from that forum but nothing happened after asking them several times.

Which federal or state law refers to hurting others businness reputation ? And what are the possibilities? How could my site be removed? The mentioned webmaster lives in New York.

Thanks

Kovacs Andras

Re: Business reputation

This is difficult and will be costly if undertaken. If the lost business was pre-existing, as you say, you may be able to bring action on a claim of tortious interference with contractual relations but this is difficult (and thus costly). You also have to understand that if the webmaster is found liable s/he may or may not have the financial wherewithal to pay.
