Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Operating under an assumed name (DBA) is certainly an option. However there are several questions that could indicate that forming an additional company would be a better option. Questions such as, whether you intend to add new partners / investors to either the gallery or the new business, the implication of the store's lease liability and other liabilities the store may have on the new business, bookkeeping and accounting of two separate businesses under one entity etc.
