Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Practice Massage without a Massage License

I understand it is illegal to practice massage service without a massage license in NY. But I see a WHOLE lot of massages & spas in New York City that offering so called Chinese acupressure, tui-na, oriental massages. So I am planning to open a store and hire some myself. I want to know, what would happen to me and my employees if the cops came? What are the fines or charges? Is it fair that SO SO many spas without massage lisences our there but the police just got me? I mean can I argue this point that if they want to punish me they must punish all the others coz I can give the cops a WHOLE list of spas without license.

Thank you very much!

Re: Practice Massage without a Massage License

If the police raid your location this argument will not work and you will be arrested. The other spas you mentioned are often shut down by the police. You may want to consult with an attorney about the proper way to establish your spa.
