Legal Question in Business Law in New York
My last roommate paid me $1150 January 22 for February rent (his last month). I noticed there was a discrepancy in my bank account and a bunch of checks had bounced even though my balance should have been fine. It turns out the ex-roommate stopped payment on the check March 10, which resulted in $175 in bounced check fees.
I was never notified he planned to do this and after attempting to reach him by phone and email get no response.
Please advise on the actions I can take. I do know where he works.
Thank you, Anne Campbell

You should commence a small claims action seeking money due and owing pursuant to the check drafted and delivered by your ex roomate.
Mike.
