Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Is a sales receipt binding?

Is a sales receipt binding once payment has been received? I purchased an engine from a company and now the company will not honor the transaction and wishes to give me a refund instead. However, I am now at a loss because I have passed up another opportunity for this one and it is no longer available.

It could be. Was there any qualifying language on the receipt? If they agreed to deliver and you paid, you should be able force them to comply. Please let me know if you need anything further.

It is binding. If they fail to deliver, you can buy another one and sue them for the price of obtaining the new one.

You can go to Supreme Court and sue them to deliver you the engine but unless there are no others available elsewhere and it is an expensive engine it is not advisable to go this route. Supreme Court takes a long time and is high in costs.
