Legal Question in Business Law in New York

I am looking for work, and decided to apply for security. I was told to bring in money and that I would be placed at a job-site. I pay the fee and instead of being placed at a site I was told to go to another company and fill out an application. That's job assistance not job placement. I still have my receipt and this was on 7/26/2011. If this turns out to be a scam what do I do?

Check the company with the Better Business Bureau and the Local Chamber of Commerce. Look on the internet and do a search to view similar complaints from other job search candidates. Ask for your money back and threaten proceeding to the District Attorney's Fraud Division in your County and the State Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Frauds Unit. If all fails, proceed to Small Claims Court. If you signed any documents, you better review it thoroughly before proceeding with the above steps. You better inform yourself completely about your contract and the company's reputation, before proceeding to Small Claims Court as a last resort.
