Legal Question in Business Law in New York

I worked without visa and contract(independant) for several families but despite success someone jealous made me loss my clients by defamation and false accusations. Now I have visa& company. I may have no choice to sue one of them because they will badmouth my next clients. Could I be sue on the period I have no visa/contract ?

I am not clear on your question, but if someone is spreading lies (not opinions, but outright factual lies) about you with the intention of interfering with your entering into business relationships, and knows that what he/she is saying is untrue, and you would have gotten the jobs but for this person's spreading of the lies, you may have a claim against that person for tortious interference with contract, or slander. These cases are very fact sensitive, so you should consult with an attorney, discuss all of the facts, and that attorney can give you a more accurate assessment.
