How do you go about picking a jury whhen defending yourself?

In what context? Normally a defendant would hire a lawyer who would pick a jury for her. If no lawyer, then the Defendant would have to familiarize herself with the Court rules and do voir dire on her own in the search for "fair minded unbiased citizens"
