Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

Civil Suit Violation of Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

We can't afford an attorney and MUST file our civil suit ourselves.

The question is how do we know who to serve in the case, when the Teachers are doing the damage and the District is ignoring the problem?

Also it says amount of claim ''Limit $25,000 for each cause of action''

What does that mean? It's gone on for more than 4 years, year after year, and blatant events of racial discrimination, and we have had our child stop swallowing, lose weight and lose hair, the other child had to be home schooled for 3 years, and I had just launched a new film company that I had to put on hold to school.

This year we had to pull our other child out to home school her due to more emotional stress and harassment by GROWN UPS Teacher, Aids, and substitutes related to the aids.

NO HELP FROM THE DISTRICT OR BOE. It blatant and a new direct violation of Title IV against our son who returned to the school a model student, child and honor roll.

HOW DO WE KNOW HOW MUCH TO CLAIM IN DAMAGES? Emotional, loss of income etc.

If this involves a learning disabled child then it is governed under the IDEA. Your question also makes allegations of discrimination. If they are made in a workplace environment they must be investigated by the EEOC or Division of Human Rights.

In a Housing environment, NY Div. Human Rights. In a School district you might find a way to interest the US Department of Education.

But Title VII only applies to acts arising in the scope of employment.
