Is it this defamation?
Recently at work, I was questioned for my conduct on my job, basically a short conversation with a member of the general public asking me who I was and my reply of ''Yes I am'', has now turned into according to this individual as a nasty confrontation. What this individual is stating is a lie. I have been told that a letter from this individual stating the ''nasty confrontation'' has been sent to the municipality government. I work for a firm that works for the municipality, by the way. Now if this letter exists, is this slander, libel both? Thanks
Re: Is it this defamation?
I can't tell. A "nasty confrontation" doesn't qualify as a defamatory statement.
The definition of defamation ,in most cases,is a false statement intended to be taken as fact, not opinion, that has been spoken or printed and others have seen or heard it; where the person making the statement knew or should have known it was false.
What did the person say you said? Either tell me more, or try on the definition.
