Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
I filed a discrimination charge against my former employer with the EEOC today. I was told I now must wait a month until the EEOC finsishes their investigation until they will tell me if they found the respondent guilty or not. However, I understand that I can consult an attorney outside the EEOC to write a settlement letter on my behalf if i am willing to drop the charges in exchange for X amount of money. I am willing to do this because I am in extremt financial hardship because of my wrongful termination. Whay kind of lawyer do Icontact to write me the letter? How long do I have to give my former lawyer to respond? How much money can I ask for? Can I get a letter written this week?
