Legal Question in Technology Law in New York

faulty evidence

the procection has provided 2 copies of the same evidence but it is different. Because the source of the evidence has provided them 2 different versions. Is there a law that say that evidence can not be used in court (in a criminal federal case) because the same source is provideing 2 different and contraditory pieces of evidence of the same event. How does one know which one is right ?
