Legal Question in Constitutional Law in New York

I would like to know how I go about getting my Rights back as a convicted felon? I was convicetd of a non-violent felony in 1995. I have matured and grown up since then and am not the same young ignorant person. I recently obtained a very good job and was let go 3 days before my probationary period was up because of my record, they wanted to keep me but couldn't because of my record. They told me they would keep the door open though because I was a hard and dedicated worker but I have to get my record taken care of before I can return. Have I known that I would be paying for the rest of my life I probably would have fought my charges harder, I only want to have my rights returned because I am a changed person and want to be able to live my life like everyother American citizen has the right to do without prejudice because of my past. I want to be able to sit on a jury, be able to vote, and enjoy a day off in my tree stand in the woods hunting...you know just live like everybody else has the Right to live. I was foolish when I was younger and didn't really think of the consequences of my actions but partially as a result of the time I have done I realized that your actions do have consequences and they do affect eachother directly. So my question is how do I legally go about getting my constitutional rights back in New York State as a convicted felon? I have asked people but received no direct or legal answers that have actually helped, all I have got some info on was applying for a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities but have not found out how to go about that either. I would greatly appreciate your time in this matter as it is of somewhat of an urgency for me.

Respectfully yours,

Brady Morris

The answer that you received is correct and you may want to search the internet for any former prisoner "re-entry programs" in your area that can assist you in your application for a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities. Best wishes.
