preserving consumer's right to sue
a company technician (through subcontracting) caused a fire in my house by drilling into a power line. How do I notify them that if they do not satisfactorily settle this matter I will sue them and is there a time limit on this notification or action?

Depending on how serious this was, whether anyone was injured, and the damage to your home and possessions,
you can either write them yourself or
start by retaining an attorney, or even a public adjusting firm to pursue the claim. The more serious the fire was, the more important to do this correctly.
