Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Are collection agencies allowed to call your place of employment even after you have stated for them not to call and have put it in writing?

And can the garnish your wages even after you have mailed them a payment?

(1) No, and you can sue them for it. I would consider taking such a case - feel free to call to discuss.

(2) Garnishment requires a court judgment in New York. If they have one, then they may be able to do so. It depends on the amounts and how you made the payment.
