Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Good morning,

I know thee are agencies that purchase comapny receivables. Are there law firms that provide the same type of service? I am not looking to retain a lawyer to collect the debt, I am looking to sell my receivables to a law firm.

Lawyers and law firms are forbidden from purchasing claims for the purpose of litigation. There are "debt buyers" who buy claims and some of these are entities that are affiliated with certain law firms, but it is not the lawyers or law firms that are directly buying the claims.

However, depending on the nature of the claim -- particularly if it is a business claim -- there are lawyers who will handle the case on a contingency fee basis where the attorney's fee is contingent upon the outcome of the case. My firm handles business related commercial collections matters on a contingency fee basis.
