Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Joint-Accounts

My mother opened a joint credit card account for myself and her. She is not paying her bills. This is ruining my credit and my chances for recieving student loans. How can I separate myself from the account?

Re: Joint-Accounts

You can contact the account and request that it stop giving credit. However, you will still be responsible for all outstanding charges.
