Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

If i was living with a friend and had the electric in my name but was not on the lease and we moved out but left the electric on till they could switch it over but they never did and ran the bill up to $2,000. is there any way i can get this reduced???

You would have to seek permission from the electric company. In either event, you would be able to obtain reimbursement from your "friend".
