16 year old son
my 16 year old is went to court for auto theft. The grand jury sent it back down to the regular court house. The judge told him not to get into any troble before his next court date. Yesterday, he awoled from his placement and got arrested for criminal mischeif. I went to bail him out;$1.500.00 and found out that he was at court again for contriband; another $500.00. I was never informed about my son until I called his placement and the police aren't being very nice. I still haven't had a chance to talk to my son and I can't even tell you if his rights were violated. Do I have any parental rights in this case and if so, what are they and what can I do. I m lost and very heart broken. Please help me. He has never been in troblem before. It all started when he was placed in placement.
Re: 16 year old son
No, you have no rights as a parent. The court will deal with the
Individual perpetrator without any real concern for parental rights.
The only thing you can do is get him a good lawyer. The police
Are generally not particularly nice to the accused or the family
Of the accused so don't take it personally.
