Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I need some advice

I hope you can give me some advice. I got a phone call from a Police Dept. They told me I needed to come in and get an appearance ticket for a bounced check. I went there and they fingerprinted me and took my picture. Under my fingerprints they had me sign my name. They never read me my rights. When I asked them if I was being arrested they told me yes. I only came to the station because they said I had to come and get a appearance ticket. I even offered to pay for the bounced check. But they wouldn't let me. Please let me know if I need an attorney. Thank you.

Re: I need some advice

Whenever you are arrested you should, at the very least, speak to an attorney to find out what you are up against in terms of a possible plea and sentence. In your case, I can't tell from your post whether you have been arrested for a misdemeanor or a felony; it depends on the amount of the check. You are welcome to call for a free phone consultation.

An appearance tickwet is issued in lieu of an arrest. You should get a criminal defense attorney to try and help resolve this issue If you would like you may call my office @718-834-0087 for more guidance.
