Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I applied for a 'certificate of relief from civil disabilities' about 5 yrs ago and never heard anything. I called the county court today and the lady told me that it has to be approved by the court. Before that, I was told my ex-probation officer had to approve it. Who is it supposed to be?

The Judge (court) is the one who must approve a certif of relief. However, it has been my experience that many of them ask the probationers P.O. for approval before they will sign it. If you are no longer on probation, I agree with the above attorney and just reapply.
