Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I was in Brooklyn, New York for a concert and was standing in the area of someone using drugs. Undercover officers saw the man and me and another person standing by him and they came up from behind us and put all of us in handcuffs grabbed my backpack and whisked us away to a waiting police van. Upon asking no questions they went through my backback and found a syringe and water bottle cap with heroin residue. I was charged with a PL 220.03 and taken to a precinct and released later that day on a promise to appear. Im not disputing the fact that i was caught with what they say and planned on pleading guilty just to avoid furthur trouble and was hoping to get off with a fine. The officers later told me they had to arrest a certain ammount of people that day and then they could go home. This is my first run in with the justice system and was just looking for any adivce or insight into my case. Was i also liable to be searched because of being suspected of co-mingling with the man using drugs?

In Brooklyn this kind of case for a first offender usually results in a plea bargain to a "Violation", a non-criminal offense.
