I was caught shoplifting today and i am 18. It is my first offence ever and the item was worth 60$. I have to appear in court and i just want to know what i should plea

Of course you should always plead NOT GUILTY as it provides you with time and opportunity to discuss the charges with an attorney and/or the DA to reduce or dismiss the charges.

I do not know what county your case is in. In some counties you will be offered an ACD, a delayed dismissal. Usually at worst the case will be reduced to a violation, a non-criminal offense. Plead not guilty and see what is offered..
